Door County is a peninsula and a series of islands comprising the "Thumb" of Wisconsin. With Lake Michigan on one side, Green Bay waters on the other and "Death's Door" at the tip, Door County is an emerald jewel surrounded by vibrant blue waters. Door County is known for its cherry and apple orchards, its beautiful natural setting, boating/fishing, shipbuilding/maritime history and the arts. There are wineries and fruit stands to visit, many places to explore on bicycles, boats or swimming, fishing and sailing charters to experience the waters and many options for entertainment. For more information on Door County, venture to the Door County Visitor Bureau website at: Door County Visitor Bureau

The county is dotted with little towns and villages all the way up the peninsula. Each town is approximately 5 to 10 miles apart. The entire county is easily driveable in a day. Each village has its own series of shops, restaurants, lodges, beaches, activities and entertainment featuring their own unique flavor. The village of Fish Creek is centrally located in the county. It's a 30-minute drive to the tip of the peninsula and a 20-minute drive to Sturgeon Bay. At the tip of the peninsula you can catch a car ferry over to Washington Island and another boat to Rock Island. There are many lighthouses you can see and some you can tour.

Fish Creek has its back to the glacier-carved limestone bluffs and its face to Green Bay waters. It is a charming little village full of history. Visit the Fish Creek Historical Society for more information on historical walks. The port originally settled for lumber, is now lined with picturesque marinas. There are many unique shops, restaurants and lodges both in the main village and in the surrounding areas. In the middle of the town is the Fish Creek beach with a lawn area, playground and sandy beachfront. You also can find the entrance to Peninsula State Park which has beaches, play areas, bicycle trails, hiking trails, boating rentals, camping, Eagle Tower, a golf course and more.
